Help protect yourself against “presenteeism

We all know that productivity at work suffers when there’s high absenteeism due to influenza. Studies of people who’ve become infected with the influenza virus show that employees lose an estimated 2 to 3.5 days from work when they are sick.

Most people who get influenza will recover in a few days to less than 2 weeks. What happens if people come back to work in just 3 or 4 days?

“Presenteeism”
is a relatively new word that describes when employees are present at work, but functioning somewhere below 100% of their capacity. One of the main causes of presenteeism is on-the-job illness.

When researchers have looked at the effects of influenza on people’s jobs, they find that influenza not only keeps you sick in bed for a few days, but also impairs your performance for days thereafter.

Don’t let this happen to you! This influenza season, do everything you can to stay healthy and on the go.

Passport Health is just one phone call away - 305-642-9889. We will be happy to supply you with “Flu” posters and literature. Our service does not end with your on-site clinic, as we are available to vaccinate employees who may have missed your on-site clinic and answer questions in our conveniently located offices. We are anxious to accommodate your first choice for dates, so please call now.

Note: Influenza vaccination may not prevent the disease in 100% of individuals. Persons should consult their healthcare provider to determine if they have a condition that precludes them from receiving the vaccine. All vaccines have side effects. The most common side effects of influenza vaccines include local reactions and mild general symptoms.
